12 Car Train Derailment Causes Pasco Ethanol Spill
PASCO-- A 12 car train derailment at the Pasco railyard caused 2,000 gallons of ethanol to spill Monday morning. Officials have blocked off a mile radius of the area near Oregon Street, because of the fire risk and the danger the fumes present. KEPR's media partner KONA radio is reporting no injuries and no fire after the accident, which is believed to have been caused by a broken coupler, which allowed some of the cars from a moving train to detach and strike a stationary train, although details have not been confirmed by KEPR Action News. The Port of Pasco gave its employees the day off from work because of the clean-up effort.
